Vertumnus Fruit Bust - Grotesque Collection

myminifactory

Inspired by the enigmatic Italian surrealist painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, I unveil my creative reinterpretation of his masterpiece "Vertumnus". This pioneering work marks a groundbreaking moment in 3D printing history, being the first-ever printed piece from my Grotesque Collection. A visionary artist who slipped under the radar before the 1936 MOMA exhibition, "Fantastic Art, Dada and Surrealism," Arcimboldo's remarkable talent was rediscovered when he became an acclaimed painter for Ferdinand I at the Habsburg court in Vienna, later earning international recognition as a painter for Maximilian II and his son Rudolf II at the Prague court. Arcimboldo's artistic genius shines brightest through his breathtaking composite portrait heads of flora and fauna, showcased in his celebrated series: The Seasons and the Elements. His ingenious compositions masterfully blend scientific observation with fantastical applications to create an uncanny union between nature and portraiture, imbued with rich metaphor and whimsical metamorphosis!
