I have switched to another design, but this mount worked great for almost a year—it just limits access for maintenance purposes. I'll keep it up, though, and recommend exploring other options. Check out the new extruder I'm using on the same slide: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:291980. This is perfect if you use Jonas Kuehling's Greg's Wade extruder with a PBC linear slide, and it works best with J-Head Mrk IV-B hot ends or similar tall ones. For shorter hot ends, adjust the shelf on the mounting plate and increase the height of the cold end for clearance. I've shared the SolidWorks file so you can modify it easily. Since there are so many hot ends available, a one-size-fits-all solution isn't possible—the shorter the hot end, the taller the extruder body needs to be for motor clearance. This is more of a stopgap until I switch to a micro extruder. For a fan mount to accompany this carriage, use: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:38893. For printing instructions, download the attached OpenSCAD file and modify it as needed. I changed elevation to 13 from the default 2 and set motor_mount_rotation to 0. You only need a new extruder body; keep using the same idler, gears, and hardware.
