vertical wind-turbine prototype
thingiverse
I'm showing off a prototype of a vertical wind-turbine I designed, and unfortunately, the wind conditions weren't exactly ideal. I've never seen anything like this design before, but I had a thought, and I really wanted to test it out to see if it would actually work. You can check out a video of this project on YouTube with this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIFUfXpXttE I repurposed an old 24v 250w hub motor from a bike as the generator, and I used a 2GT timing belt that's 1000mm long along with four KFL000 bearings (each 10mm in size). It's also possible to add an electronic wind direction indicator, which would allow you to adjust the blades into position using stepper motors. This would make it much easier to scale up the turbine, and you could even have them return to a neutral position if there's too much wind. Take a look at some of my other designs, including more turbines.
