Vertical Turbine - Derived
thingiverse
The redesigned derivative retains the assembly process while aiming to enhance aerodynamics. A drop-in replacement features a wing profile with a swept design for a smoother surface. Another part is based on a NACA 2818 profile, which should improve power due to its shape. The arms have been narrowed to an oval shape, reducing drag. The NACA2818 profile includes holes for stability, with options for a long wire or short dowels. The rear edge should be sharper but was avoided due to disconnected prints. Visible pegs were intended for interlocking between layers, requiring two sets of parts with a 30° shift after every three parts. Hole placement for dowels suffices for this purpose. Future plans include designing top and bottom parts for a proper turbine; however, the profile will be investigated in OpenFoam first. If needed, the current design can be used, and additional pieces are included in the .zip file for top and bottom blade alignment on a plane. A round plate is recommended for both top and bottom parts.
