Vertical stand spool holder vitamined with ball bearings (608 or others)
thingiverse
Here is another vertical spool holder using a ball bearing. I designed this one because all other ones I found were complicated to assemble, requiring screws and bolts, or lacked a guide in the bearing for the spool edges. This design is meant to be assembled by simply forcing parts into each other. The provided parts are compatible with 608zz ball bearings, but any other model can be used since the thing is parametrized. You can open the joined Fusion 360 model and adjust the value to fit your specific ball bearing models (in the Model workshop, Modify -> Change parameters). Use the parameters set in favorites. Be cautious: don't trust the theoretical measurements of your bearings. Depending on the manufacturer, especially for low-cost Chinese bearings, real inner and outer diameters can differ by 0.1 or 0.2mm. Measure them using a caliper. Bearings from the same batch usually have the exact same error; measure one and the others should have the same size. Low-cost bearings are not a problem if you can precisely measure them. In fact, it's even recommended for this project since there isn't enough speed or mechanical effort requiring high-quality bearings. To build a complete spool holder (2 stands), you'll need: - 4x groove printed parts - 2x stand printed parts - 4x ball bearings (608zz for the supplied STL)
