An Alternative to the T-Canalyzer: Streamlining Airflow for Modern Aerobatic Sequences Improving knife-edge flight is crucial in modern FAI aerobatic sequences, and researchers have been exploring innovative solutions. Voicu's research, available at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-pattern-flying-101/11585841-airflow-visualisation.html, provides valuable insights into airflow visualisation. The fences shown here are based on Voicu's designs, as seen in his photos on the above link. The photo depicts my BJ Prolog, a slightly older design that has been upgraded to meet modern F3A requirements. This aircraft is capable of performing extremely tight knife-edge loops. As demonstrated, these fences may fit other 2M BJ pattern aircraft, given their derivative nature. Even if they don't fit your plane perfectly, they can serve as a reference point for creating your own variation. Additional notes to consider: 1. Four fences are required in total: two upper and two lower. 2. Prints shown are 2mm thick, but thickness can be increased to 3mm for added stiffness, with 2mm PLA being an ideal option. 3. The incidence of the fences is identical to that of the horizontal stabiliser. 4. The tail end of each fence ends at the back of the tail post. 5. Avoid modifying the fences to wrap around swept surfaces, as this can counter effectiveness due to induced turbulence. 6. Originals shown here are cut from 1mm fiberglass sheet; if you wish to duplicate them in glass or another material, these prints can serve as templates. 7. My fences have additional support via slotted brass tubing inserted into holes drilled through the fin; they are edge-glued with epoxy. Initial tests were conducted using cut styrene taped in place before switching to a permanent installation.
