Vertical Spool Holder with optional Bearing Filament Guide

Vertical Spool Holder with optional Bearing Filament Guide

thingiverse

This vertical Makerbot Filament Spool alternative is simpler in design and only accommodates a spool's secure holding. It doesn't attempt to grip the entire spool. Additionally, an optional ball-bearing filament guide is included, utilizing a spare 623 bearing from another project. A non-bearing version of this guide also exists but remains untested. The result is considered one of the smoothest filament feeding systems on Thingiverse. To install, attach the spool holder to the top right or left corner of your Makerbot using 4 M3 screws and nuts. For the optional filament guide, remove support cylinder for the bearing and break away support material in the arch. Secure the bearing with an M3 screw and place the guide beneath the makerbot's top lip (refer to images). The non-bearing version follows the same installation steps. Printing at 50% infill ensures strength.
