Vertical spool filament dryer

Vertical spool filament dryer

Converts food dehydrator to filament dryer. (I used the Rosewill one on Amazon.) Only includes the base and spool holder; you will need to add a top cover of your own - in my case I just cut out the centers of several of the food trays from the dehydrator to have a clear top allowing easy visualization of remaining filament. Front wall also has small opening to screw in a PTFE tube adaptor to run to your 3D printer. Spool holder uses standard 608 size skateboard bearings. Designed for large printers (I have an Ender 5 Plus), so probably requires a print size base of ~320 mm square. Also requires quite a bit of filament to print in one shot, so make sure to start with a new spool or be ready to change partway through. Suggest printing with PETG or similar due to higher temperature capability. For the spool, I had decent success printing it vertically with supports (just make sure to put some gluestick or similar to help with adhesion if needed). The outer wall can be printed without supports. The spool holder should be printed flat bottom down; you may need to add supports for the bottom of the V fittings. UPDATE 29 OCT 2020: - Added STL files for the same components as the original AMF files - Added a new "no roller" holder designed to not use the spool. I noticed when one of my filament rolls was almost out of filament that it tangled somewhat easily as the roller allowed it to unwind too much when pulled by the printer extruder. This will have more friction (due to contact at the two edges) but may help if you run into a similar issue if it rolls too freely on the spool + bearings.
