Vertical Print Strength Test
thingiverse
To test vertical layer strength when using ABS, I designed a print with 50 infill and snapped off its vertical towers. If they were brittle and easy to break, adjust settings such as adding extra shells (not too many) and decreasing perimeter width over thickness for better contact between shells. Using a heated bed at around 70 C may also help; experiment with these changes and share your findings in the comments for further improvements. A SolidWorks file is provided for your convenience.
