This is a versatile case design for the MKS SBase Smoothieboard clone, paired with various display options. It offers a compact enclosure for printers that utilize aluminum extrusions. The base of the case remains unchanged across all versions, forming the back and housing the MKS SBase board. The other parts are designed for the "front" of the case, allowing users to choose which one suits their display setup. The case is compatible with M3 screws. A provided spacer helps to maintain a gap between the case and extrusion, preventing interference with Openbuilds wheels. This spacer may or may not be necessary, depending on the user's configuration. Another spacer is included for cases where the X-axis motor lacks sufficient clearance to pass through the case. This was an issue encountered during the design process, specifically with the Tarantula printer. To resolve this, the case can be rotated 90 degrees and printed on its side without support. A low-profile fan measuring 40 mm is recommended for optimal performance. For the 12864 screen, four 20mm M3 screws are required to secure the screen cover to the top portion of the case. The author utilized a fan from Amazon, selecting one with a length of approximately 15 mm to fit snugly within the case without protruding. All other screws should be around 10 mm in length for proper fitting. Recent updates have included alternative tops for the MKS TFT28 and MKS TFT32 touch screens, as well as a top for Raspberry Pi with a 5-inch screen. An external USB cable is necessary for the Raspberry Pi, which may also require an external power source. The cover for the Pi is adapted from Phil_Maddox's original design, omitting the MicroUSB hole to avoid any potential issues. Support material is recommended for the bottom side of the display opening to ensure a secure fit. Users can choose to print Phil's back plate for a removable and interchangeable Pi case, or opt for a single-printed cover. The author extends gratitude to various contributors, including Phil_Maddox, gadzet28, and megablue. Additional updates have introduced combined smart controller options, featuring the TFT28 and 12864 displays, as well as the TFT32 and 12864 configurations. These designs require supports for printing with the front "down" orientation, offering a more compact alternative to previous cases. Larger versions with extended panels are also available for users requiring additional space for components like smoothers or buck converters. These larger cases do not include mounts for adapter boards, as their sizes vary significantly; however, screw holes can be drilled or the boards can be glued into place. The updated combination TFT32 and 12864 design now better accommodates the USB port on the TFT32 display.
