Vertical Laptop Stand

Vertical Laptop Stand

A space-saving laptop stand that allows the laptop to stand vertically, optimizing desk space. The gap in the model is 20 mm. I've also used felt pads inside on both sides to avoid scratches One felt pad is 2 mm thick. So if your laptop's thickness + 2 felt pads (one on each side) are more or less than 20 mm, you can scale the model in the slicer and make it fit to your case. To do this;Determine Your Laptop Thickness:First you need to measure the thickness of your laptop. Calculate Desired Thickness:If you're also gonna use felt pads, you need to add their thickness to your laptop. If not, then just don't include them in the formula.      So let's say if your laptop is 22 mm thick, then your desired thickness is 26 mm with the felt pads. But I would suggest decreasing it by 1 mm for a snug fit. Which would make the final value 25 mm, for this example.  Calculate the Scaling Factor:Now, to do that you can use this formula: (Desired thickness / 20) x 100 = Scaling factor. For our example, we got the thickness as 25 mm, then;(25 mm / 20 mm) x 100 = 125%, so your scaling factor is 125%.  Adjust the Model in Your Slicer:Then, in the slicer disable "uniform scaling" to scale the size in one dimension only. (Otherwise model would scale up or down on all 3-dimensions.)Next, check on which axis the gap lies. If you haven't changed the orientation, it should be lying on the y-axis automatically. After you get the right axis, enter your new scaling factor and slice the model.                 Happy printing!
