Vertical filament spool holder for delta printer

<p>This thing is designed to utilize the unused space on top of a delta printer. My previous horizontal version has an issue with the filament loops occasionally falling down due to gravity and can lead to tangling filament and furthermore extrusion problems.</p> <p>You need to print one of all the thing files, except two of ShaftAdapter.stl and FilamentRollHolder16mm.stl. Orient the parts appropriately prior to slicing.</p> <p>Other parts needed:</p> <ul> <li>16mm OD tube (13mm ID if you plan to use the ShaftEndPlug.stl), length depends on your printer's dimensions, material is not important,</li> <li>2x 6204 bearings,</li> <li>4x M4x8mm screws for mounting the results of FilamentRollHolder16mm.stl.</li> </ul> <p>Assembly:</p> <ol> <li>Install two of FilamentRollHolder16mm on top of the vertical top profiles of your delta printer.</li> <li>Put one ShaftEndPlug to one end of the 16mm tube (optional).</li> <li>Slide a 6204 bearing to the VerticalRollHolderA and BearingCup.</li> <li>Slide a ShaftAdapter to both bearings.</li> <li>Slide the 16mm tube through the ShaftAdapter of VerticalRollHolderA.</li> <li>Put VerticalRollHolderA through the hole of a filament spool.</li> <li>Screw VerticalRollHolderB on to secure the spool.</li> <li>Slide the Bearing cup on the tube and through the center hole of VerticalRollHolderA.</li> <li>Place the spool with the shaft on the two FilamentRollHolder16mm.</li> </ol> <p>After initial assembly you only need to do steps 6 through 9.</p> <p>In case you need a bowden tube end holder to be used with this thing, check out my other <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2829888">thing</a>.</p> <h3>Print Settings</h3> <p><strong>Printer:</strong></p> <p>Kossel XL</p> <p class="detail-setting rafts"><strong>Rafts: </strong> <div><p>Doesn't Matter</p></div> <p><strong>Supports:</strong></p> <p>No</p> <p class="detail-setting resolution"><strong>Resolution: </strong> <div><p>I used 0.25mm and works ok</p></div> <p><strong>Notes:</strong></p> <p>If your printer is not tuned to produce dimensionally accurate prints, you may be disappointed with the results and/or need to do more post-printing processing.</p> <h3>Post-Printing</h3> <p>You need to use a file, a Dremel or some other applicable tool to slightly enlarge the inner hole of one 'ShaftAdapter' and also 'BearingCup' to make the bearing easier to slide off the tube.</p> </p></p> Category: 3D Printer Accessories
