The Diabolical Chessboard, aka Cat-Proof Fortress\nLike most cats, my mischievous kitties appear as adorable bundles of fluff content on living the quiet life of napping and purring. But in reality, they're little balls of malevolent intent on destruction. Their favorite demonic activity is to stare me straight in the eye while knocking down something that will shatter, but unattended chess pieces are a suitable substitute. That's why I designed the Diabolical Chessboard. It can be easily mounted on a wall, out of reach of their evil little paws. The modified chess pieces were crafted from PerryT's exceptional chess set here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40605 The board components were printed at 200-micron layer height with 20% infill. No supports are necessary. The pieces were printed at 100-micron layer height with 30% infill. They will require a multitude of supports and a great deal of patience. To complete the chess set, you will need to print: Black: Top x3 Top Right x1 Bottom Left x1 Bottom x3 Left x3 Right x3 Center x19 King and Queen x1 Bishop, Knight, Rook x2 Pawn x8 White: Top x3 Top Left x1 Bottom Right x1 Bottom x3 Left x3 Right x3 Center x19 King and Queen x1 Bishop, Knight, Rook x2 Pawn x8 And a large quantity of pins to assemble the entire set. Notes: The completed chess set in the images was printed at 80% scale. Two, the mischievous cat, has a particular fondness for destroying things. The top left and right pieces feature keyhole slots for wall mounting, but due to their light weight, I opted to use poster tack instead. This project will consume an immense amount of time, equivalent to several million years. A more efficient hobby might be advisable.
