Vertex Connector for Truncated Icosahedron (soccer ball shape)
thingiverse
This design shares similarities with "Platonic Solid Vertices," yet its development was independent. Observing a soccer ball reveals its composition of pentagons surrounded by hexagons on all sides. Consequently, each vertex features two connections pointing to a hexagon vertex and one pointing to a vertex on the pentagon. This distinction is more pronounced in person, as the difference in angles can be subtle. I am utilizing 1/8-inch wood dowels for this project. Printing these five units at once proves effective due to the limited time between layers for such small parts. Altering the layer printing settings could also resolve the issue, but producing multiple prints simultaneously offers a more straightforward solution.
