A Vernier scale is an enhanced measuring instrument that increases the accuracy of standard rulers and scales. It consists of a main scale divided into equal parts, which is accompanied by a smaller sliding scale called the Vernier scale that has additional divisions. By counting both the main scale and Vernier scale divisions, one can achieve more precise measurements than with a standard scale alone.
