Vernier Hook's Law Flag
thingiverse
This setup is ideal for a Hook's Law lab utilizing a Vernier Dual Force Sensor and Motion Sensor. As you move the force sensor up and down, a plot of force vs. displacement can be created, revealing the spring constant as the slope of that line. The Flag mounts to the rod of your DFS, providing a large target for your motion sensor to track. Recently, a bolt-on version was developed that screws directly onto the DFS using a .5" 1/4-20 thread. In lab settings, students often experienced issues when dropping the force sensor, causing the press-fit hub to break off. To avoid this, carefully press the bolt into the hub.
