Human: Vernier Caliper Box KEEP OFF message sliding lid version. I've modified the files to prevent overhang issues, making it easier to print the sliding parts without any hassle. (45 °) A "KEEP OFF" text message and an embossed image of a Dial Vernier Caliper now adorn the sliding lid, adding a touch of elegance to this functional design. Vernier Caliper Box KEEP OFF Update 1 is available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/knXRgKaOp4o While assembling the parts, I encountered some issues that needed tweaking... But don't worry, they've been fixed! I used my ABS, Nozzle 235°C, Heat Bed 110°C to print this model. Unfortunately, I experienced some curling, which required some filing to fix. This design consists of four parts due to its size and complexity. Some parts need to be fastened together using friction welding or ABS Juice. I highly recommend using 100% pure Acetone to stick the ABS filament together. The 3D Printer used for this project is up for sale: https://youtu.be/R6NdPuTvZ-A. Please note that all files are still under construction, and I've only conducted test printing on an older hinged version, which proved to be too weak due to layer directions. I've since designed a sliding lid version, using four parts in total, with a "KEEP OFF" message. This design is currently untested as a printed model. You can check out the Design Video for this project here: https://youtu.be/efOh_8m546I. To ensure strong hinges, I added notches to the Sliding Lid Head Vernier Caliper Box Keep Off.stl file. Hinges would have been too weak or oversized to make them strong enough. For a perfect 3D-printed hinge, see this Instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Perfect-3d-Printed-Hinge/. Please note that I've only conducted test prints on the hinge versions at this time. To assemble the Vernier Caliper box, you'll need to stick together two files: Sliding Lid Head Vernier Caliper Box Keep Off.stl and Sliding Lid Body Vernier Caliper Box Keep Off.stl. You can also stick together the main part of the Vernier Caliper box using Head Vernier Caliper Box.stl and Body Vernier Caliper Box.stl. I've split these files into two parts to make them easier to print on smaller build areas. Note that the Body parts are still quite wide, approximately 178mm, so a bigger printer area is required. I've included space for a dial gauge in this design, if you have a Vernier Caliper with such a feature. There's also room for a battery and other parts, with some tilting action to make it easier to access the battery.
