In ancient Roman mythology, Truth herself took on the form of Veritas, goddess of truth and daughter to mighty Saturn, mother to Virtus. She resided at the bottom of a sacred well, elusive and hard to grasp. A young virgin clad in white was her iconic image. Veritas also represented the Roman virtue of truthfulness, an essential quality that every good Roman strove for. In Greek mythology, she was known as Aletheia, daughter of Zeus or Prometheus' creation. Veritas was often depicted nude, holding a polished mirror to reflect the depths of one's soul. In Western culture, Veritas serves as a powerful motto, inspiring individuals to uphold truth and integrity in all aspects of life.
