Ver. 1 - "Leave-in-place" Bean funnel & Plug for Zassenhaus Box Coffee Mill
thingiverse
Anyone familiar with Zassenhaus' box coffee grinders will attest that their "half-moon" opening can be notoriously difficult to navigate when adding coffee beans. This funnel is designed to alleviate this issue, and I envision further refinements that expand its outline for even greater ease of use. I deliberately crafted the funnel to snugly fit the Zassenhaus' "half-moon" opening, ensuring a seamless attachment process. However, due to its close fit, slight tilts during installation or removal can cause it to get stuck. This is intentional, as I aimed to create a "leave-in-place" funnel that remains on the Zassenhaus throughout grinding and storage. The funnel's design allows it to nest deeply within the grinder's chamber, engaging along its entire perimeter for enhanced stability. This stability is crucial for its "leave-in-place" functionality, as the grinder arm must be able to move freely without hitting the funnel. To prevent this, I've ensured ample clearance between the top of the funnel and the grinder arm, which sits lower than the top of the knurling on the Zassenhaus' adjustment nut. In fact, the funnel even clears the top of the plug's handle, despite being designed for storage purposes only. I've since refined this design with a "backstop" feature to catch errant coffee beans, available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3018790.
