Hi,
this is a lithophane lamp based on imagery and elevation data by NASA. Some parts of the surface remain unknown and were filled with fictional data, accoridng to www.solarsystemscope.com where you can get a high resolution image of Venus and several other planets. Amazing page, go check it out (link below). The Lithophane was generated with the sphere making tool on Lithophanemaker.com. Also an amazing page. We are all standing on the shoulders of giants, I guess. Additionally I disgned a socket and a diffusor for the lamp and soldered the cable directly to the lamp. The Fusion360 files are attched, you can change and tweak the design as you like.

Note: My cellphone camera doesn't capture the color of the lamp correctly. In real life it's less red and slightly more orange.

Feel free to leave me some feedback and please let me see your version.

What you need:

G9 LED lamp (2W)

Cable (with switch)

(soldering iron and material)

Build and Assembly:

Print the lithophane (with colorchange if you like)

Print the socket

The LED should slide into the socket

Connect the cable to the LED (clips or soldering)

Put on the Lithophane on the socket, the should hold together by friction

How to generate the Lithophane

The Lithophane parameters are shown on one picture and there is also a .txt file with all parameters. You could also download another planet mapping print it with the same settings and use the socket and and diffusor.

Links:

2D Planet mappings:
https://www.solarsystemscope.com/textures/

Lithophane generator
https://www.lithophanemaker.com/Lithophane%20Sphere.html#processing

Cable.
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01KVCISEQ/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o02\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Lamp:
See the pictures for the data of the lamp

Colorchange:
https://www.help.prusa3d.com/en/article/color-change\_1687

Disclaimer

please be careful when working with elecctricity and soldering!. If you are not sure about what you are doing, please don't do it or get some help. Also keep in mind this version is printed with PLA, which is not always the proper material for lamps. This higly depends on the heat generated by your light. Therefore I am using a 2W Bulb, which is moderate in it's heat radiation. I had the lamp running for more than 12h with the lamp getting warm to aroud 40°which is alright and a little shrinkingage on the diffusor. The functionality of your lamp higly depends on your print paramters, and materials you use.If you don't use the diffusor the heat can escape better from the lamp, but the color will be different (see pictures). Please also always pay attiontion to all your components (cable, lamp) having the standard safety symbols like GS or CE, better be safe than sorry. I don't give any warranty on your lamp being safe.

Print Settings

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.1 mm

Infill: 100

Filament: Das Filament white, Prusament Glaxy Black, Filoalpha Amber

I used the slic3r Quality Preset with 100% infill on my Prusa Mini. Also I added A colorchange and a variable layerheigt for the base. Have a look at the .3mf file. The dark Filament is Prusament Galaxy Black, of course. The diffusor is printed with a translucent PLA from Filoalpha.
