Venus in Arms at The Louvre, Paris

This exquisite marble sculpture, crafted in the early 11th Century but meticulously completed much later in the 16th Century, originates from Italy. The stunning statue is part of the esteemed collection of Tibero Ceuli, acquired by Cardinal Scipion Borghese (1678-1623) in 1607. She was unearthed in Rome during the 16th Century. The ancient head appears to be a mismatch for the statue, yet it beautifully adorns one of the grand rooms within the villa Borghese.
