Ventilator array connection blocks
thingiverse
Quiet Fan self supporting ventilator array for computer, server rack, RV-Skylight, window or any other application that needs a lot of air movement, without the noise of a single big fan. I needed a 12 Volt fan for the Skylight of my camper to circulate air at night, but all standard RV solutions used a lot of power and made a lot of noise. I had some Quiet fans laying around from another project and they where very cheap (< $3 each, when bought in bulk, like 50 or 100 Pc). The fans I used, although labeled to use 0.12 Amps, actually only use .04 Amps at 12 Volt. In order to get 2 speeds, I did even instaled a 12 to 24 Volt step-up DC-DC converter and on 24 Volts, they use about 0.08 Amps and don't make noticeable more noise or get warm. In My application (the RV Skylight) I had room for 4 rows of 7 fans of 80 mm that should consume about 2.24 Amps, when all switched in Parallel. Different ventilators might use more! With the connection blocks I’ve posted here, it’s very easy to mount all ventilator together. The only thing that needs to be done is wire them al up as one, or in other configurations. I made blocks to use in the middle that connect 4 fans, ½ blocks for the side and ¼ blocks for the corners. I used stailnless, countersunk M4 screws. The holes have M4 thread, but you can also use different threads with the approx same diameter and use nuts on the other end. Making a surrounding frame from aluminum profile is advisable to mount hinges and latches (you don’t want ventilators come tumbling down when you hit a putt hole :-)). Printing: No support needed, no brim used, printed on an Artillery Sidewinder 2. The sizes can be scaled in your slicer to adapt to your printers tolerances and/or different Fans and I also included the Step files tat can be modified in 3D Cad software.
