Vented Filament Extruder
thingiverse
This concept design makes it possible for one device to cool the filament as it emerges, heat the material inside the hopper, and exhaust toxic fumes from the extruder to an outside area. The extruder is placed vertically so the filament can emerge straight down through the nozzle for cooling and then go on to more components explained in the Lyman Extruder. Instructions The initial design combines parts from the Lyman Extruder and custom or pre-made products. Components include: The extruder nozzle (Refer to the included STL file). A reusable coffee filter (Cuisinart GTF-4). A marine exhaust fan (Attwood Quiet Blower - 4 inch in diameter). Flexible clothes dryer vent vinyl ducting (4 inch in diameter). An Arduino Uno and code [ https://github.com/barrowstuff/Vented_Filament_Extruder ] Many other parts are required to turn this concept design into a functioning filament extruder. January,19,2015 Changing the temperature sensor to measure up to 550 degrees F for the extrusion of 100% recycled PET flake. Adding logic to the Arduino Uno and WxPython applications for control and monitoring of the extruder.
