Venegade Sample Spool
thingiverse
I've printed several sample spool holders off Thingiverse that fit makerbox samples, and my go-to design was the one by Nerys. However, I wanted something a bit wider and larger, which gave me more practice for designing in scratch in Fusion 360. I placed a purple and gray Nerys sample spool next to my black and blue one to demonstrate the size difference. Both parts take about six hours each, with no supports required; however, supports may help the female half as I encountered some stringing/unsecure strands when printing interior curves at a low angle. I didn't use supports and it turned out fine, but be warned that if you choose to use them, you may have a lot of trouble removing them. I included holes on each quadrant of the interior walls, which will line up so you can place the end of the filament to latch onto, then tighten the spool one last time to keep it secure. And I designed a filament clip based on the profile from agibson2's Ziro filament clip, but tailored to fit my sample spool walls.
