Human: Homeland: East Asia.\nDescription: The Great Oak is a large deciduous tree with thick branches, its leaves are smooth and gray. Leaves are alternately arranged, up to several decimeters long, bare, feathery composed of short-pointed wide-oval leaflets, which are cut off at the bottom into heart-shaped. Leaf axis and young shoots have strong, unpleasant odor. The species is dioecious. Inflorescences are large, dense, terminal. On female plants, some centimeters long, winged nuts develop in summer, of broad-oval shape with a seed about halfway around, which gradually fall off.\nFlowering time: May-June.\nMaturity of seeds: from September onwards.\nPropagation and spread: Wind disperses seeds, with shoots from stumps and roots.\nHabitat: Ornamental tree, invasive on dry habitats: cracks in pavement, roadside verges, abandoned construction sites, abandoned railway lines. Pioneering species in overgrowth of abandoned dry meadows or pastures, woodland edges and embankments or excavations.
