Velbon Tripod Lock Clamp
thingiverse
After twelve years of faithful service, one of the lock clamps on my trusty Velbon DV-6000 tripod gave way to stress and snapped in two. I scoured local shops for a replacement part, but it seemed that time had rendered this critical component obsolete. Frustrated by the prospect of investing in an entirely new tripod when the old one still stood solidly upright, I took matters into my own hands. With some careful tinkering and resourcefulness, I cobbled together a makeshift clamp using everyday materials. To my delight, it has functioned flawlessly for several months now, saving me from the expense of replacing a perfectly good tripod. It's worth noting that this improvised solution may be adaptable to other Velbon tripods beyond the DV-6000 model. Unfortunately, I've yet to find the time to address the issue with the clamp's orientation - it currently sits upside down on my tripod head. To install the new clamp, follow these straightforward steps: First, use a drill bit slightly larger than the original hole and carefully drill out the existing opening for a seamless fit. Recommended print settings: Material: I've found PETG to be an ideal choice, although ABS should also work well. PLA, however, is not recommended due to its softness.
