Vegetable Peeler - for people with limited use of their hands
pinshape
This design took its cue from my grandmother, who lives with Rheumatoid Arthritis and frequently battles daily tasks. As her grip is noticeably weaker than average, and her fingers have difficulty bending, this leads to her inability to grasp small objects securely. With that in mind, I designed a vegetable peeler tailored specifically for someone like my nana. The handle of the peeler is significantly larger than standard models, allowing for better accommodation of poor grip. Additionally, there are protrusions at the base that provide extra support. These protrusions enable force to be applied directly towards peeling, thus preventing the hand from slipping off the peeler. This should give someone with limited hand mobility greater control over the peeler. After being printed, the peeler underwent a smoothing process using an acetone bath, and a blade was incorporated from another peeler.
