Vega - The LED-lit Christmas Star

With Creative Tools 3D-printable Vega Xmas Star, we pay tribute to the winners of The Nobel Prize in Physics 2014. Their tireless efforts have led to efficient LED lights and HD flatscreen television sets, computers, and mobile devices that we enjoy today. The 3D-files for Creative Tools 3D-printable Vega Xmas Star are carefully designed to enclose a standard and commonly available LED light strip. VIDEO http://youtu.be/iPnVJo4_1uo FEATURES A five-pointed star made of five identical parts, held together by short segments of 1.75 mm filament with no need for glue. Ventilation holes provide cooling airflow to keep the design running smoothly. A wall-mount is included for easy attachment, allowing cable rotation adjustment to align the star parallel to a wall or window. The wall-mount is adapted for LED strips measuring 8 x 3 x 1000 mm (12 V, 0.5 A). DISCLAIMER We have successfully used this star with standard low-power LED strips for indoor use. Please refer to your LED light source manual and follow all safety instructions. PRINT SETTINGS We recommend using transparent PLA plastic filament and two shells or perimeters for strength. For faster prints, you can use "rough" resolution at 0.3 or 0.4, and there is no need for infill. You can print at zero percent infill, turn off support structures, and the top section of the star segments will be closed automatically via "bridging". These settings are specifically designed for filament-based FFF-3D-printers. MATERIAL CONSUMPTION The design requires roughly 70 grams of filament in total. Since the design does not need support structures, no material is wasted. MAKE IT IN COLOUR! You can 3D-print in different plastic filament colors. The modular tips of the star also allow for variations in color per tip. Color variations can also be achieved by using LED light strips with an RGB color control.
