A Core XY printer prototype I designed some time ago uses V-slot linear rails for the X and Y gantries and standard linear bearings for the Z-axis. A Greg Wade's reloaded extruder with an E3D Bowden adapter is employed. The pulleys are 3D printed and function flawlessly. The X and Y gantry core XY system has been tested, as demonstrated in a video. However, the rest remains untested under real-world conditions.
