The Vectrex arcade machine remains one of the greatest ever made. As the only home arcade machine utilizing a vector display, it cannot be fully replicated by an emulator. Launched in 1982 just before the video game crash of 83, it was largely a commercial failure despite producing some fantastic games and becoming a cult classic. Despite its initial unsuccess, great new home brew games continue to be developed today along with upgraded hardware. This success is attributed to the original designers releasing all system information after discontinuation, long before open sourcing became common practice. In this spirit, I am sharing my replacement controller design! Having created and sold these controllers for over a year now, I feel it's time to make the design available to everyone. I have recently uploaded new versions of the top that work seamlessly with the Adafruit joystick breakout board, making alignment and wiring much easier. https://www.adafruit.com/product/512 #Vectrex4ever! To those who have purchased a controller, thank you for your support! For those not interested or unable to make their own controllers, I will continue selling them at $100 each. Assembling these requires considerable time, resulting in limited profit per hour, making it a labor of love. Each purchase includes a nice box and extra parts, with the option to print them in any desired color. This controller design boasts several features: - It is fully compatible with the original Vectrex machine, with overlays fitting perfectly and taking up minimal front space. - Designed specifically for analog joysticks - Works flawlessly with high-quality buttons! A major upgrade has been implemented, allowing for the use of Sanwa buttons, which fit nicely with overlays. However, if you're not using an overlay on the controller, 20mm buttons can be used instead.
