At the workplace, I had to find a solution to keep warped wood flat on the Epilog Fusion M2. On our older machines, vector cutting honeycomb is made of steel, allowing magnets to hold slightly warped wood in place. I experimented with various options and found these designs to be the most effective. These small keys fit diagonally into the grid and can be turned and locked into position to secure the material. Occasionally, they get cut through, but since they are tiny and can be easily replaced from scrap material, I don't mind if they are semi-disposable. They last longer and perform better than tape or other disposable materials. The "wings" of these keys can be adjusted in length, depending on personal preference. A mix of long and short wings is useful when the material doesn't fit perfectly between two openings on the grid. Please share your thoughts and post photos if you create or improve upon this design! I made these small keys from 3mm birch plywood, but there's a possibility that bending the aluminum cutting grid may occur. Use them at your own risk, and take it easy.
