Vaxer funnel cover

I'm building a protective casing for IKEA's Vaxer hydroponics system. The original setup doesn't come with a lid for the water reservoir's intake pipe. Although the funnel opening is relatively small, I believe adding a cover will help prevent contamination and reduce the amount of light entering the water pool, in turn minimizing algae growth. As someone new to this field, I may be mistaken, but the addition of a cover seems like a thoughtful touch.
