Vaterra Twin Hammer / WLToys 10428 Steering Upgrade
thingiverse
Here's what I came up with: I crafted this steering upgrade from scratch because I was fed up with the appalling bump steer, even with upright shock towers, other bell crank setups I tried still suffered miserably. This setup was designed to complement the stock front suspension travel perfectly and boasts as close to zero bump steer as humanly possible. (at full compression + full steering lock there is a tiny bit remaining) This upgrade demands the VTR231008 Vaterra steering bell crank set for some of its hardware, along with a mix of leftover parts from the TH's original cantilevered shock setup. One of the bell crank arms needs to be modified to fit in front of the steering servo, and 2 mounting holes need to be drilled in the chassis plate to mount the triangle bases for the bell cranks. The pics tell the rest of the story clearly. The center steering brace is also set up to receive a steering attachment directly, and has a centering indicator for making steering alignment significantly easier (a divot is centered to the steering geometry to align with a casting line on the front differential ensuring the steering is true). I would love to hear feedback on this design (good or bad), so please give it a try & let me know if it worked out.
