Vaterra Ascender K10 Rock Sliders
thingiverse
Rock sliders for a Vaterra Ascender k10 These were designed to fit onto the stock Ascender wheel base, offering a precise match that eliminates any need for modifications or adjustments. Initially, I had envisioned using m3 hardware to secure them directly through the frame, but this approach proved too cumbersome and time-consuming. To overcome this challenge, holes were drilled larger and tapped for m4 hardware, providing a more robust and reliable attachment system. With 2 m4 screws holding each rail in place, these rock sliders feel incredibly secure and stable, hugging closely to the body of the vehicle without any signs of movement or wavering. Although there is some minor fine-tuning that can be done to optimize the alignment and positioning of the rails, overall I am highly satisfied with their fitment. These parts are printed at 80% infill, giving them a slight 'give' but also imbuing them with remarkable sturdiness and durability. The design ensures they can withstand various terrains and conditions without compromising on performance or integrity. A version of these rock sliders is available for download that includes an integrated skid plate/slide surface beneath the main rail. This added feature not only enhances protection for the underside of the vehicle but also contributes to a stiffer rail when mounted to the frame, providing even greater stability and confidence during off-road excursions.
