I got this out of my printer today. It landed on its edge about 2 minutes before it finished, so I designed a version with mirrored features that I'll try next. For some unexplained reason Simplify 3D prints it with openings. I'm at a loss to explain why it happens, though the slits are worth examining closely. Give me an update if you make any headway on this design challenge. I uploaded an X3 version (turned over) with a heavier wall; the result is no open gaps. I think you should try printing it turned upside down! This image shows both designs. X1 was printed normally, then unexpectedly ejected from the hotbed before finishing.
