I wasn't happy with the bird feeders that I saw here because they took too long to print even for simple things and costed way too much so I thought of a way to make it cheaper , faster and an elegant solution, VASE MODE. Within 10 mins on solid works I had the two volumes designed and I set to print it , I had a few print failures because I tried to high of a layer height but after trying 0.1mm it printed successfully (the top is the problematic one). And the first bottom print was just one layer and ended up being too thin for my liking. but at 9 cents a side you can't complain about failures. Print Settings Printer Brand: Creality Printer: Ender 3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0,1 Filament: Eryone PLA black Notes: VASE MODE IS TO BE USED The top should be printed in at least 1/3 rd of the nozzle diameter in height , without bottom layers and with a small brim for adhesion ( you can leave it on as a design feature). The flat part goes down to the build plate. The bottom should have at least 3 layers as a bottom and no brim. the smaller radius is the bottom side and so should be oriented this way in the printer. Post-Printing After printing 3 BBQ skewers can be cut down to size (whatever you see fits best) as stand offs, and with a small nail that has been previously heat up two small holes are melted up top of the roof for a fishing line to go through to hang it. if you punch a hole without heating up it will create a weak spot whereas melting creates a burr that is thicker and also melts the layers together so it wont split there. Holes can be poked on the bottom as well as drainage. Let the prints cool down before taking off the print bed else you can poke it through, also have the scraper sharpened to peel the bottom of. I'd ad corrugation to it to add stiffness but I though this was enough and didn't want to spend too much time on it. Category: Outdoor & Garden
