Vase Mode "beer" Slug Trap
thingiverse
I tried the tuna-can slug beer trap, and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, after watching at night, I noticed that most slugs would enter, grab a six-pack, and leave quickly. To my surprise, I had the best luck with a can that featured an overhang, which led me to think of printing something. I came across several innovative traps online, but they were large (requiring a lot of liquid) and consumed a significant amount of filament to print. If I'm going to invest $2.50 in a trap, I'd rather someone else take care of it for me. On the other hand, these traps can be printed for about 30 cents if done in vase mode. There's a small window because I tend to overfill, and this prevents any issues. There's also a little trough to collect spilled bait and potentially attract more snails. The steep ridge at the top is designed to encourage the slugs to fall into the trap. Let me know your results! If people appreciate it enough, I'll create an umbrella and/or a scoop for added convenience. CHECK OUT PRINT SETTINGS BELOW
