Vase and Potty
thingiverse
Once I needed some decorative items for small things. The vase and potty had to be white and match my home's style perfectly. I wasn't sure how many I would need, so printing them was the only way to go. However, this process requires a lot of post-processing: applying putty, sanding, painting with acrylic paints using an airbrush, and then adding glossy lacquer also using an airbrush. Only then can you achieve a professionally-looking result. I created three versions of these items: a vase, a potty, and a small vase. Each consists of three parts: the body, bottom rim, and upper rim. The vase is made up of V-body+V-top Rim+VP-botRim, while the potty is P-body+P-topRim+VP-botRim. The small vase is S-body+S-topRim+S-botRim. The body should be printed in spiral mode, with the other parts printed in standard mode at 20-50% infill. I print them using ABS with a 1.0mm nozzle. To assemble these items, you may encounter the "elephant leg" defect where the bottom rim doesn't fit properly. In this case, grind it so that it fits well. The body and rims should be assembled using glue, such as Revell or Tamiya cement. It's okay to use similar glues. After assembly, cover the items with acrylic filling primer using an airbrush. I used Otrix Orange 4+1 Acryfill and applied two layers of this primer. Then, paint them temporarily in black using any paint you like and sand until the black paint is removed. This allows you to remove all bumps and pits and achieve a smooth surface. I only worked on the external surface, leaving the inner surface as it was printed. After sanding, paint with acrylic paints of your choice. I prefer car paints and used Vika 2K 1301 White. Apply 1-2-3 layers depending on what your paint requires. Then apply lacquer in the same way. I prefer car lacquers and used A1 680 brilliant clear VHS, Mobihel 2K clearcoat, Otrix, and Vika.
