Vascular Segmentation of the Brain
sketchfab
The cerebral cortex is divided into several distinct regions, each supplied by a separate set of blood vessels. The anterior circulation brings oxygen and nutrients to the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, and parietal lobe, while the middle cerebral artery supplies the lateral surface of the hemisphere with a rich network of capillaries. Meanwhile, the posterior circulation nourishes the occipital lobe, basal ganglia, and thalamus with an abundance of oxygenated blood.
