This DIY Vario system is specifically designed for paragliders. At its core, it utilizes the Bluefly TTL V12 with integrated GPS and barometric sensors from AirWhere/FANET, which relies on an ESP8266 microcontroller paired with a high-range RF LoRa Board. This setup enables real-time location tracking of other pilots in mid-air. To display vital flight information, a Kobo Glo e-reader is repurposed as the user interface. Meanwhile, the LK8000 flight software has been tailored to meet the unique demands of paragliding, providing an intuitive and feature-rich experience. The design of the Sandwitch housing has been optimized for 3D printing and easy assembly, minimizing the complexity associated with traditional construction methods.
