Variable Retraction Test

Variable Retraction Test

thingiverse

I successfully printed a benchy and conducted simple stringing tests which passed with flying colors. However, on real prints, I encountered persistent stringing issues that refused to budge. To tackle this challenge head-on, I designed a variable stringing test specifically tailored to evaluate varying distances between extrusions. Within S3D, I created five distinct processes all operating at 45mm/sec retraction speed, each with a unique distance setting: the first at 0mm, the second at 2mm, and so on up to an impressive 8mm. After refining my approach from there, I achieved optimal retraction settings within just three prints, significantly streamlining the process and saving me hours of trial-and-error testing.
