This is the Variable Nozzle for Jet Engine Afterburner (Reheater, Augmentor). There are several types of Variable Nozzle, and this is one Full Link Type imagined here. This model was designed to understand what elements are required for a Variable Nozzle mechanism. A. Design points (Full Link Type): 1. A cutaway model shows the Mechanism and Nozzle Movement. 2. The nozzle can be opened or closed using a tool. 3. Only one end of the link rod uses a ball joint, as it is too small to print. 4. This can be disassembled and reassembled with screwdrivers. Related to this, the total number of flaps is limited to ten (10), and seven (7) flaps are used in this cutaway model. 5. The open-to-close diameter ratio is about 1.35 (=1.8 area ratio). Tools are exactly the same for both models, and cover assemblies are completely interchangeable. B. Assembly Manual (PDF format, 22 pages) A detailed assembly manual including "Parts List", "After printing treatment" and "Assembly procedure" is prepared based on "Standard Skill (Filing, Drilling, Tapping and painting)". My design hole diameter is significantly smaller than the finish hole diameter to ensure wall thickness at the time of printing. Then, the following drills and taps are required: Drill: φ1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3.5, 5.2 Tap: M1.4 (Optional), M2, M3 For parts with small ball ends, carefully drill to finish hole, then carefully break ball stickiness. If a ball comes out during assembly, use a suitable size washer and your printed plate. C. Download files include: - STL Files (31 items) - “ws” of the last two digits means "With Support" specially designed. - PDF(Zip) File: Assembly Manual D. Purchase Parts Information; see Assembly Manual - Aluminum Tubes - φ3 - ABS Pipe - φ5 - Screws Micro screws M1.4x3.5L and 6L - direct screw-in to 1 mm dia hole (no nut) However, there are many small parts, so using an M1.4-P0.3 tap is recommended to make introducing threads. The quantity of screws can be adjusted based on experience. Screws M2 x *, M3 x * E. Total Net Print Time: approximately 60 hours - (Estimated as a case of PLA, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 40% infill and no raft or support) Note: When printing in actuality, each parameter may be adjusted based on experience.
