Variable Multi Filament Spool Holder
thingiverse
A spool holder that can hold more spools than standard ones is easily made. The only limitation on its width is the length of the aluminum pipes you can obtain or the size of your room. My current one measures 90cm in width and holds 2 x 4 spools. Any spool between 12 and 35+ cm should work fine as long as the side walls of the spool are not more than 5.5-6mm wide. The individual parts can slide easily on the aluminum pipes to fit your spools' widths. Non-printed components include: Aluminum pipe, 10 x 1 mm x "as long as you want"... If you live in Europe, you may find "Alfer" aluminum pipes at your local hardware store. These are the ones you need. Ball bearings (10 x 15 x 4) - Four for each spool. Printing components include: 2 x Ends 2 x Single for each spool If the spool holder is more than 40cm wide or has to carry very heavy spools, it's recommended to also print one (or more) supports. Print settings are as follows: Printer: Prusa i3 MK2 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Post-printing steps may include sanding the holes of the sliding parts a bit to fit perfectly.
