Variable length arm for Round-a-mount (RAM) mounting system
thingiverse
For RAM vehicular mounting systems, a parametric length arm is available that fits between two rubberized balls. Functionally replacing the arm of a RAP-B-166-2U set, it works with 1" diameter ball joints and supports up to 5 pounds. The design has been improved over time; attributed Catarina Mota's hexagon function and offering various bolt size options. The 'work in progress' tag was removed after numerous downloads and minimal feedback. To assemble, print one side with a nut trap and another without. Use a bolt and wingnut to connect them as shown in the picture. The SCAD file supports metric sizes M4, M5, M6, and M8, as well as SAE sizes 8,10, and 1/4". A minimum 40mm or 1.5" long bolt is recommended, while ABS is advised for car dash usage due to PLA's warping issues.
