UPDATE: This design has been superceded by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1347425 YES THAT'S RIGHT IT GETS EVEN BETTER! CHECK IT OUT: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1347425 I spent an entire weekend refining this object to make a 5-minute demonstration of TinkerCAD, and it's now version 4.1 - I think I finally got it right! Initially, I tried using the threads/nut from the 'MakerBolt' model (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9095), but they lacked the sharpness of the knurling and tightness of the threading needed for classroom use. My goal in creating this design is to be able to take quality photos of objects beyond 3dbenchy - printing a custom fixture for each photo subject is impractical, so I hope this adjustable (and expandable!) fixture will address this need. V4.2 would include a locking mechanism and logos that appear in the photos, but first, I'll field-test it to see how it performs in real-world situations with users who aren't me. This design was created using Tinkercad; feel free to edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/2ddW98iLL9Y Previous versions can be viewed here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1340996 and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1341235 Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: Mini Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm layer height Infill: 20% Post-Printing The threads require breaking in before they feel good; I wish I had acetone to try vapour bathing these parts, as a note for future experiments...
