Variable distance retraction test
thingiverse
This Retraction Test is designed to show how much retraction is needed to ooze-free cover a distance. There are two different designs (Skinny and Thick) I personally recommend printing the thick one. I created the thicker version because there is a relation between the length of retraction, the the travelmove distance and the amount of plastic extruded after the travelmove. Turnes out that you can run into weirt problems when the amount of extruded material is too low compared to retraction- and travel move length. Have in mind that the values seen in the photo are the ones for my direct-drive setup. With a stock Ender 3 those would be more like 3mm I guess. The skinny one covers a maximum distance of 37.182mm. The thik one covers a maximum distance of 40.415mm. I created a second thick design covering a distance of around 70mm.
