Variable angle and distance holder for Saitek's throttle quadrant or trim wheel
thingiverse
Sometimes mounting Saitek's throttle quadrant and/or trim wheel controllers becomes tricky due to awkward angles and distances, making custom throttle handles hard to use. For instance, Agronn's X-Top Flight Simulator Panel makes it impossible to use any custom throttle handles with reverse levers because they can't be fully advanced. At the same time, a trim wheel mounted on the side of the panel is too far from the throttle quadrants and not easily accessible. That's why I decided to create variable angle and distance holders for these controllers. The holder consists of several parts that need to be glued, slipped, and clicked into each other (see the assembly instructions). The holder allows users to adjust the angle of the controller as well as its distance from the mounting point. A special pin is used to fix the angle and distance at a chosen position. This holder can be printed so two of them could be used side by side. Since Saitek's controllers are not symmetrical (one side has a dent, while the other has a ledge), I'm providing a mirrored adjuster wheel part with a special cut for the ledge. I'm also offering a model of the adjuster wheel with its holes covered by a 0.2mm thick polygon to avoid printing problems. On my printer, small holes on the initial layer don't print well and often result in a messy blob of plastic. After printing the parts, you just need to punch through the thin layer to open the holes (see the post-printing instructions). The whole holder is relatively strong and slightly flexible, so excessive force shouldn't be applied when operating attached controllers.
