Vaporeon Rook Chess Piece

I'm working on a project for my intro to 3D modeling class that's been going strong since last March. The challenge was to design a chess piece assigned to me randomly through a generator, then merge it with an object I brought in myself. I chose a plush Vaporeon as the fins and collar pieces because they really caught my eye, but when I tried to texture this model, I hit some geometry that made it tough to get the look I wanted. Despite being a beginner's project, it still looks pretty good if you don't dig too deep into the geometry. Fingers crossed I'll improve with more practice using Maya and other 3D programs.
