# Vape Pen Holder V01-2020 Here's my contribution to the rapidly growing number of vape pen & accessory holders designed for everyday use. This one is specifically created to hold *Ooze Twist Slim* batteries and 510 cartridges with ease. There are five 12mm diameter holes for batteries and cartridges, and one rectangular hole for securely holding a USB 510 charger in place. The five holes vary slightly in depth and Z position, allowing each to accommodate either a battery or a short cartridge. ## Design I utilized Tinkercad to create the holder, leveraging its powerful shape generator features to bring this design to life. The *Corneum* shape generator played a crucial role in initially creating the shape of the holder. I then reoriented and lowered it below the build plane where a portion was removed to create a sturdy flat base. You can easily find the design files in the "All" category of shape generators near the end. ## Print Details **Printer:** My trusty Creality Ender 3 Pro, equipped with a glass bed, insulated enclosure, and "blue" bed springs for optimal performance and longer screws for added durability. **Filament:** I used high-quality Geetech(Sunlu) PLA filament in black to ensure a smooth print finish. **Temperatures:** The ideal printing temperatures were set at 215C for the nozzle and 60C for the bed, ensuring excellent adhesion and minimal warping. **Nozzle:** With a diameter of 0.4mm, this nozzle provided precise control over the extrusion process. **Initial Layer Height:** I started with an initial layer height of 0.2mm to establish a solid foundation. **Layer Height:** The subsequent layers were printed at a height of 0.12mm for optimal detail and texture. **Wall Thickness:** A robust wall thickness of 1.6mm was used to ensure the holder's structural integrity. **Top Thickness:** The top layer was also printed with a thickness of 1.6mm to match the walls, providing a seamless finish. **Bottom Thickness:** Similarly, the bottom layer had a thickness of 1.6mm for uniformity and stability. **Infill:** A moderate infill percentage of 20% cubic was used to balance structural integrity with print time. **Infill Line Multiplier:** I opted for an infill line multiplier of 1 to maintain even spacing between lines. **Initial Fan Speed:** The fan speed was set at 0% during the initial layers to prevent debris from being blown away prematurely. **Regular Fan Speed:** Once the first four layers were complete, the regular fan speed was kicked in at 100%. **Regular Fan at Layer:** The fan turned on at layer 4 to minimize warping and promote even cooling. **Print Speed(LCD):** I maintained a print speed of 100% throughout the print job for optimal efficiency. **Adhesion:** To ensure strong adhesion, I applied a 5mm brim and sprayed hairspray onto the glass bed before printing. **Supports:** No supports were needed for this design due to its clever use of overhangs and internal structures. **Print Time:** The total print time came out to be approximately 11.5 to 12 hours, depending on various factors such as ambient temperature and printer performance. I printed the holder on a smooth glass surface using hairspray and a 5mm brim for optimal adhesion. ## Finishing After the print was complete, I performed post-printing clean-up on the bottom edges using various tools: **Deburring Tool:** This handy tool helped remove brim remnants and finish the edges with precision. **Hobby Knife with #11 Blade:** The hobby knife proved useful for removing excess brim material and cleaning up rough edges. **Medium Length Tapered Bead File:** For areas where the previous tools couldn't reach, I used a medium length tapered bead file to smooth out any remaining imperfections. ## Included File(s) The STL file for this design is included in the package: **`vape_pen-holder-v01.stl`** ## To Do In the future, I plan on investigating ways to decrease the infill percentage and/or wall thicknesses without compromising the structural integrity of the holder. This might involve tweaking the design or adjusting print settings. However, as it stands, this version is robust enough that it won't tip over even when loaded with a couple of vape pens.
