Vape Cartridge Centrifuge
thingiverse
I noticed some oil was getting trapped away from the wick in my perfectly legal herbal medication cartridges. I fitted a centrifuge disc to the 11mm cartridges, hoping it would hold them at a slight angle to maximize the oil recovered. The idea is to heat the cartridge slightly, making the oil more fluid, then spin it so the centripetal force pulls any remaining oil down to the bottom of the cartridge. I sized it to fit an 8mm shaft on a small AC motor I had lying around. Pictures and details will be posted soon. Here's my revision history: V 0.1 - Initial build. First time making something in SCAD. I got diameter and radius mixed up, causing everything to print way too big. To fix this, I replaced R with D in parts of the code and tweaked the main centrifuge radius. V 0.2 - First revision. Important lessons learned. I'm uploading the SCAD file if anyone wants to see how I did it and offer advice. The design seems a bit big, so I think I can optimize its size for faster printing without sacrificing performance. V 0.3 - Smaller and more efficient to print (I've made the STL, but haven't printed yet). To make this version better, I'll use vibration dampening techniques like water-based harmonic balancers or loose ball bearings in a channel. Regarding water-based dampening, maybe I can use a porous infill and add a couple grams of water and a pinch of boric acid while printing?
